Are you planning to pursue a master’s or PhD degree in China with government scholarship funding? The Xiamen University CSC Scholarships 2027 offer international students an opportunity to seek admission and financial support at one of China’s recognised universities.

Xiamen University (XMU) has published its 2027 international admission guides for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes. The university has also announced the application period for Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) Type B applications, which opens on 1 December 2026.

Applicants should use this preparation period to select an eligible programme, review admission requirements, and prepare the necessary documents. Importantly, admission to a degree programme does not automatically guarantee a CSC scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements for Xiamen University Scholarships

Applicants must meet the university’s admission requirements and the applicable CSC scholarship conditions.

Bachelor’s Degree Applicants

Candidates generally need a high school diploma and must be between 18 and 30 years old by 1 September 2027. Applicants must also satisfy the relevant language requirements and submit a CSCA score report.

Additional nationality and overseas residence conditions may apply to applicants of Chinese origin.

Master’s Degree Applicants

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. XMU’s 2027 admission guide generally sets the age requirement at under 45.

The CSC scholarship may impose a separate age limit. The latest available scholarship-specific guide lists an under-35 limit for master’s applicants, but candidates should verify the final 2027 rules.

PhD Applicants

Doctoral applicants must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification. The general 2027 admission guide specifies an age requirement of under 45.

The previous CSC guide lists an under-40 scholarship age limit for doctoral candidates. Applicants should confirm whether this remains applicable for the 2027 intake.

English and Chinese Language Requirements

Language requirements depend on the chosen programme.

For English-taught programmes, XMU generally lists IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80, accepted equivalent qualifications, or qualifying evidence of previous English-medium instruction.

Chinese-taught programmes generally require HSK Level 4 or 5, depending on the discipline.

Applicants should check their programme’s current admission guide before arranging language tests or submitting alternative evidence.

What Does the Xiamen University CSC Scholarship Cover?

XMU’s latest published CSC-specific guide describes a scholarship package covering tuition, university accommodation or an accommodation subsidy, a monthly stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. The previous guide listed these monthly stipends:

  • Bachelor’s students: RMB 2,500.
  • Master’s students: RMB 3,000.
  • PhD students: RMB 3,500.
  • Medical insurance: RMB 800 annually.

These figures are based on the previous scholarship guide and are not yet confirmed for the 2027 intake. Applicants should consult the latest CSC-specific announcement before relying on these amounts for financial planning.

The university also requires a financial-support guarantee statement. The RMB 400 application fee is non-refundable, and scholarship selection remains competitive.

How to Apply for Xiamen University CSC Scholarships 2027

Step 1: Choose an Eligible Degree Programme

Review XMU’s official 2027 admission guides and identify a programme matching your qualifications, research interests, and language ability. Confirm whether it appears on the final CSC-approved programme list.

Step 2: Prepare the Required Documents

Depending on your degree level and programme, prepare:

  • Valid passport.
  • Academic certificates and transcripts.
  • Language proficiency evidence.
  • Personal statement or study plan.
  • Recommendation letters.
  • CV and research proposal for relevant postgraduate programmes.
  • Financial-support guarantee statement.
  • Medical examination and police clearance documents, where required.
  • CSCA score report for bachelor’s applicants.

Check the programme-specific instructions for additional requirements.

Step 3: Contact a Potential Supervisor

Master’s and PhD applicants should consider contacting a suitable professor before applying. A supervisor’s pre-acceptance letter is described as optional in XMU’s general 2027 admission guides, but the previous CSC-specific guide requests one for postgraduate scholarship applicants.

Because the 2027 scholarship-specific requirements may differ, confirm the current rule with the university or department.

Step 4: Apply Through Xiamen University

From 1 December 2026, submit your application through the XMU International Student Application System. Select the relevant programme and scholarship route, upload the required documents, and pay the RMB 400 application fee.

Step 5: Complete the CSC Type B Application

Register through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System. Select Type B and enter Xiamen University’s agency number, 10384.

Submit the required information and documents, ensuring that the details match your university application. XMU conducts its review and nomination, while the China Scholarship Council makes the final scholarship decision.

Xiamen University CSC Scholarship 2027 Deadline

The application window runs from 1 December 2026 to 20 February 2027, Beijing Time (UTC+8). This deadline applies to the university’s announced 2027 admission application schedule.

Prepare your documents in advance and submit both online applications before the closing date. Do not assume that completing one system automatically completes the other.
