Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Must be a national of a MEXT-designated country.
- Age: Must be born on or after April 2, 1990.
- Academic Achievement: Must have achieved a GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.00 scale.
Who is Not Eligible?
- Military Status: Must not be currently serving on active military duty or employed as a civilian by the military.
- Arrival in Japan: Must be able to arrive in Japan within the designated arrival period specified by APU.
- Previous MEXT Scholarships: Must not have received a MEXT scholarship in the past, unless they possess more than three years of educational research experience following the final payment of the previous MEXT scholarship.
- Concurrent MEXT Scholarships: You cannot apply for this scholarship if you are currently applying for another MEXT scholarship.
- Other Scholarships: May not receive financial support from any other scholarship organization while studying at APU.
- Visa Status: Must maintain a “student” status in Japan throughout the scholarship period.
- English Proficiency Test: Must submit scores from an English proficiency test taken on or after March 22, 2023.
English Language Proficiency Exemption
If an applicant has completed a previous education from an institute where the language of instruction was English, then the applicant can submit an English Language Proficiency letter from the previous institute.
