The Commonwealth Foundation Grant provides funding opportunities for civil society organisations, networks, creative organisations, and collectives working to create positive social, cultural, and political change. The annual open grants call supports projects that engage constructively with decision-makers or use creative advocacy to address important issues affecting communities.

For the current funding round, applicants can apply through two streams: Individual Organisation Grants and Collective Action Grants. Projects must address at least one of three priority areas: climate and environmental justice, economic inclusion, or freedom of expression.

The Commonwealth Foundation also requires applicants to demonstrate how gender and intersectionality will be incorporated into project design and implementation.

Commonwealth Foundation Grant 2026 Overview

The Commonwealth Foundation is offering grants to eligible organisations and networks across participating Commonwealth member countries. The funding is intended to support projects that strengthen civic participation and contribute to meaningful social, cultural, or political change.

Applicants should demonstrate a clear connection between their proposed project, the Foundation's strategic priorities, and the communities they aim to serve.

The annual open call has two funding options, allowing applicants to choose the stream that best matches their organisational structure and proposed activities.
